Last days
A weedy sunflower, fading away in the high grass beside the river. Thanks are owed to some passing bird.
-
Old factory wall
The ruins of an old factory on the mill river, still visible. The area also had a fish ladder which was very active for decades.
-
Sweet fish
Write about your most epic baking or cooking fail. Many years ago a printed recipe called for a 1/4 cup sugar in baked fish. I should have known better.
-
Blossoms
The plants on my balcony are turning full faced to the sun, as daylight dwindles. I see a power in them not seen in them when summer was at its height.
-
Muskrat
Coming across the river with a mouthful of river grass. It disappeared under the old factory.
-
American burnweed
A plant noticed going to seed near a river. I read it is considered a pioneer species, thriving at sites where fires or other disturbances have occurred. An impressive American weed.

Patience
Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life. When I take photographs I notice how patient I’ve become waiting for the opportunity presented by a muskrat surfacing with a mouthful of river grass or the evening light on flowers in September. The patience has become a part of my life and routine.

Fisheye
Getting stared down by a fish was amusing and an opportunity for a video. It’s times like this when I notice how patient I’ve become.
-
Cones
Pine cones are beautiful in late August. The resin drips and the sunlight shines through them.
-
September
The flowers on my balcony are still blooming, often with an abandon, because they sense their days are numbered.
